2008-2009 Pre-season friendlies
3rd Sept 2008
Saracens 6 -2 Rodbrough At Alston Croft
Saracens got out the blocks early in this entertaining friendly. Rodbrough from Stroud equalled Saracens with fast attacking and entertaining football. The defence of Tom Tunnicliff, Ryan Crosskey, Louis Jordan, James Bell struggled to get their rythmn and were guilty of sloppy play. Joe Payton playing his first competitive game in goal was excellant throughout and saved Saracens from going behind early in the play. The attacking play was superb, with Gary Robinson leading the attack partnered by the skills of Ryan Goby. Saracens scored first after 5 mins when Robinson was fed through by Luke Holder to score from close range. Goals from Goby and Holder settled Saracens for which they never looked back. Dominated play for large parts they should have scored more but for some good goal keeping.
In the second half, manager D Tunnicliff made 4 subs and it was one of these who played a part in Saracens 4th. Wesley Gilders pace down the flanks opened the Rodbrough defence and his lay back for Robinson to cash in was a great move. Conor Harmer's midfield play was excellant and his cross was smashed in by Robinson again. Further goals by Goby and Holder gave Saracens a deserved win

Forest Rangers 1 - 1 Saracens. Away Ruerdean
Playing their second game in 2 days, Saracens played a very solid Forest Rangers. With changes to their Defence, Saracens took time to settle against a very direct side. Tom Tunnicliff marshalled the defence well and Saracens soon took the lead when Robinson slotted in from close range. Gilder should have doubled their lead soon after but his shot was off target.
Forest Rangers got back into the game with a disputed penalty. Good performance by the Saracens side looking confident and fit they start their league campaign on Sunday 7th Sept

Saracens v Southside Cubs away Chosen Hill Rugby Club
Score Saracens 15 - 0 Southside
Scorers Ryan Gobyx6, Gary Robinson x4, Conor, Wesley, Luke, Dan Ryan Crosskey
Mom..Ryan Goby
Saracens league campaign got off in emphatic style with this 15-0 win over Southside. Saracens scored within 5 mins with probably the best goal of the game. Goby heading into the top corner from a wesley Gilder cross. The goal was special because the cross was behind Goby who had to arch his neck and body back and from an incredible angle superbly headed in. Goby soon notched his hat-trick within 10 mins when great passes involving Mat Tennat & Ben Lewis saw Saracens 4-0. Robinson soon got on the score sheet when he latched on to a Conor Harmer ball to clinically finish. Robinson soon added his hat-trick as well again linking up with his midfield from an Holder pass. Conor soon added Saracens 7th from a strong shot outside of the box. Goby made it 8 and his 4th from another header and Holder scored Saracens 9th from a corner. Half Time 9-0
In the second Half changes were made and it was one of these changes who scored Saracens 10th. Dan Mustoe strong run and shot through the Southside defence giving the keeper no chance. Goby scored his 5th from a great shot just outside the area and soon after scored his 6th once more from a header. Out of his 6 goals 4 were scored with his head. Robinson latched onto a long ball from keeper Payton to clincally finish scoring his 4th and Saracens 13th. Further gols from Wesley Gilder and Ryan Crosskey gave Saracens a great start to their season
Saracens 3-5 Badsey Sun 21st Sept 2008. Away
THIS GAME SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PLAYED!!
Grass as long as the boys ankles "and we have big 6ft lads" When does a game become more important than a boys safety. Concerns raised with the referee before during and certainly after fell on death ears!! Result impossible football "although we did actually play very well" Result cont. 4 Stitches in Louis's knee from getting his studs caught in the so called the grass is fine??!Enough said..
Saracens 2-0 Charlton Rovers Blues
Great game by both sides, 2 superb match winning goals, MOM performance by Tom Tunnicliff although Ben Lewis and Kane could have all won the accolade. First Half high lights really Dan Mustoe's 40 yrd slam dunker swerved, dipped, moved, blistering shot into roof of the net.
Second Half: Great performance, Ben Lewis move into Midfield stabalised and won the midfield resulting in loads of possesion. Good work by Luke Holder setting Wesley Payton with a goal nearly as good as Dan's. This time a 30 yd Volley into the bottom corner. Much beter performance Dan, Lee & Luke
