UNDEFEATED LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2007

Cheltenham Saracens u16 2006-2007 League Champions

The season started after a couple of friendlies against Saracens youth
team and Cleeve youth team as well as our u15s

2 early matches against weak opposition gave us 2 wins but unbelievably
our first red card (and last)

The 3rd game was a big one where we beat YMCA 1-0
The team carried on winning the next 3 league games and an away county
cup tie
The league cup 1st round was played at Prestbury and inspite of numerous
chances it finished 3-3 against YMCA but YMCA won on penalties

County cup took us to the Forest where we recorded an easy win and then
drew Churchdown Panthers.

Again we outplayed our opponents but ended up loosing 2-3
However it very quickly became apparent that Panthers had played a
suspended player and as a result Saracens won the replay 5-2.

The team were starting to show the results the play deserved but were
hit by the lose of Aaron Lock (due to a serious medical problem)

Into the new year the County cup took us to Shirehampton Bristol where
the Saracens produce one of their comebacks scoring 3 goals (up the
hill) in the last 8 minutes with the winning goal being the second last
kick of the game

Bad weather disrupted the fixtures with the odd game being played and
the winning run continuing even though it took a last minute knee to win
against Leckhampton 2-1

The quarter final of the county cup saw Saracens drawn at home against
Bromley Heath again Saracens squandered chances and chasing the
equaliser they conceded a late goal to lose 5-3. (Bromley heath lost in
the final)

Eventually the season got going again with 11 games in 8 weeks.
Saracens beat YMCA 2-1 away to establish a healthy lead at the top of
the table
After a couple of easier games Saracens were again scoring the winning
goal with the second last kick off the game with the light fading fast
in the midweek fixture against Forest Rangers (won 1-0)

As the season moved to a close Saracens were conceding goals from
defensive errors but fortunately were able to bounce back and win 3-2 v
Charlton Rovers Blues, 5-4 v Cleeve Colt Rovers (league cup winners)
And finally the match where Saracens won the league outright by beating
Forest Green Rovers at Prestbury 3-2.
The remainging 2 away matches were won, 4-2 v FGR and Churchdown
Panthers were beaten 3-0 on the final Sunday of the Season

The saracens lost to a penalty shoot out in the cup and reached the
quarterfinals of the county cup but were the undefeated League Champions
