Under 14's A 2007 / 2008

Our toughest season yet, with Cheltenham club sides continuing to play 2nd fiddle to the very strong town teams of Evesham & Cirencester, who along with new entries Forest Green Rovers, again filled the top league spots. The challenge of repeating last years position was also made harder by 2 weaker teams dropping out at the start of the season, with another folding at the start of the year.

We played some great football before Christmas, with Tom Short “on fire” in front of goal, ably supported by Luke Mitchell, Alex Walsh relishing his new central midfield position & Tom Killoran marshalling the defence. However, we lost our rhythm in the New Year, possibly due to a sporadic fixture list, and were on the wrong end of several close games. We welcomed 2 new players (Matt Allen & Alex Prout) who strengthened the team, but suffered from the squad being too small at times during the season, losing good players to injury & other sports. We also bade a sad farewell to Jacob Hogg (one of the originals!) who has moved away from Cheltenham.

We remain a competitive club team, well regarded for our fighting spirit & sporting behaviour, a fact recognised by finishing runners-up in the Sportsmanship award. A great achievement - so well done boys!
