M.Masling R.Oldham(2)
Match Report: Saracens continued their recent winning ways with a steady performance against Wantage. Neither team looked like scoring until Matt Masling, making his full reserve debut, hit a shot into the top corner from 30 yards. Saracens grew in confidence in the second half and two further goals from Ryan Oldham saw them to a comfortable win.
W Cheltenham Saracens Reserves 6 0 Fairford Town Reserves Saturday, 02 February 2008
N.Burke F.Latchford(3) J.Shand(2)
Match Report: The young Saracens have now scored 13 goals in the last three matches without reply from the opposition and they found Fairford had no answer to their strong running and passing game. The first goal came after 10 minutes when 16 year old Fred Latchford broke through and outpaced the visitors defence to place the ball past the advancing keeper.5 minutes later Nick Burke showed perseverance and pushed the ball home after a defensive mix-up.Latchford scored his second on 40 minutes with an opportunist goal and by half time Fairford were a beaten team.Substitute James Shand scored with his first touch of the second half when after an interchange with Latchford he headed home.Latchford completed his hattrick on 60 minutes pushing the ball home from close range and James Shand scored the best goal of the game when he broke down the left saw the keeper off his line and lobbed the ball into the net from 30 yards.
W Finchampstead Reserves 0 1 Cheltenham Saracens Reserves Saturday, 09 February 2008
F.Latchford
Match Report: Saracens made it four consecutive matches without conceding a goal in a workmanlike performance at Finchampstead. It was a poor first half with both sides creating very little, Finchampstead coming closest when they hit the post. The second half was more lively and Saracens did create a couple of chances but with the game heading towards a goalless draw, Freddie Latchford was put through to score. Finchampstead threw everything at Saracens in the last few minutes but Chris Pates and Brett Pittaway mastered the defence to keep up Saracens impressive clean sheet record.
Wootton Bassett Town Reserves 4 0 Cheltenham Saracens Reserves Tuesday, 12 February 2008
Match Report: The wheels really came off the Saracens' bus at Wootton Bassett. 4-0 down at half time, Saracens made a fist of the second half but were always second best
Cheltenham Saracens Reserves 0 1 North Leigh Reserves Saturday, 16 February 2008
Match Report: A poor performance all round saw The Reserves slump to their second successive defeat in a week. The only bright moment of the first half saw Nick Burke hit a post. North Leigh scored late on when a miss hit shot looped over Brett Pittaway. Saracens got desperate and brought Manager Ibbitson on and could have grabbed a draw but the ball was cleared off the line in last minute
Kidlington Res 3 1 Saracens Res
Saturday, 16 February 2008
Morbey
Match Report: In a much improved performance, Saracens lost 3-1 at top of the table Kidlington, but it would have been a different story had they converted their chances. Saras had much of the early possession with Liam Morbey and Gary Hill running the oposition's defence ragged. But Kidlington caught Saracens on the break with a long ball which their striker lobbed over Brett Pittaway. He then made a further 3 great saves before the half to keep it 1-0. Saracens started the 2nd half brightly and had further chances, Josh Ellin missing the best one. Kidlington doubled their lead, against the run of play, but Liam Morbey immediately replied with a fierce strike. Saracens tried to get it back but a late defensive error saw their opponents seal the victory
Saracens Res 0 1 Didcot Res
Saturday, 8 March 2008
Match Report:Manager Chris Ibbitson recalled himself to the starting line up following consecutive defeats. The first half was tight, Steve Stroud going close with a long range effort and Liam Morbey once again chasing everything down. In the second half Saracens should have scored but it was Didcot who got the decisive goal.
Cheltenham Saracens Reserves 3 1 Headington Amateurs Reserves Tuesday, 11 March 2008
Cheltenham Saracens Reserves 1 2 Abingdon United Reserves Saturday, 22 March 2008
Match Report:Against top of the league Abingdon the Saracens young second team supplied one of their best performances of the season and were unfortunate not to gain at least a draw. With 10 of the team under 20 including 6 under 18 they are beginning to show the promise as they gain in confidence as was shown against a team that contained players with Southern League experience with Abingdon first team.At half time Abingdon had taken the lead against the run of play when a rare error in defence allowed an Abingdon forward to place into an empty net.Play was very even in the second half but it was Abingdon who increased their lead when they scored with a good headed goal. The Saracens pulled one back with 15 minutes remaining when Nick Burke scored from a penalty following a foul on Freddie Latchford.

Headington Amateurs Reserves 3 0 Cheltenham Saracens Reserves Tuesday, 01 April 2008
Saturday 5 April
Saracens 2 Wootton Bassett 0
Match Report : This was a steady performance by the Reserve team. Manager Ibbitson recalled himself to the heart of the defence and Tim Rylatt got his chance up front with Liam Morbey unavailable. Saracens had the majority of first half possession with Fred Latchford running their defence ragged and it was Fred who created the goal which Tim Rylatt took. Second half saw more pressure from Saracens but it was a fluke goal that sealed the game when Jamie Shand's corner went straight in. Saracens defence held strong with Pittaway, Masling, Pates and Gill keeping the sheet clean.
Saturday 12 April
Binfield 1 Saracens 1
Match Report : Saracens played some great stuff in the hale, rain and sunshine in Berkshire. 0-0 at half-time but Saracens had created chances with Mike Atkins back to his best in midfield. Second half saw further chances, many coming from the left side with Josh Ellin and Chris Pates linking well. Saracens took the lead when Gary Hill closed down the keeper and his clearance hit him and rebounded into the net. The lead lastest less than a minute but Saracens ended on top and took a well deserved point.
Saturday 19 April
Henley Town 3 Saracens 1
Match Report : Some sloppy play let Henley get to a three goal half-time lead which Saracens were always going to struggle to get back. Henley's first came from an uncontested header but their second was the killer when Manager "Do as I say not as I do" Ibbitson tried to pass the ball across the penalty box and it hit a co-defender and broke to Henley's striker who netted. Their third came from their winger who had been a thorn in Saracens' side all half when he scored from a narrow angle.
The second has a completely different game with Saracens pushing forward and battling for everything. Ryan Smith pulled a goal back and Saracens had further chances but their first half performance had let them down.
Tuesday 22 April
Hungerford Town 1 Saracens 1
Match Report : It might be the end of the season, there might be nothing to play for, but just tell Saracens Reserves that! They travelled to Hungerford midweek, with Champions League football on Tv, and because of circumstances beyond their control, ended up with a bare 11 but each one of those played as if it were a Cup Final.
1-0 down at half-time they fought back with a deflected goal from Callum Gill in the second half and probably should have gone on to win. Great goalkeeping again from Brett Pittaway and stout defending from Ryan Smith and Chris Pates gave Hungerford few chances but in the end it was a deserved draw and a great advertisment for the Reserve League.
Saturday 26 April 2008
Saracens 2 Hungerford Town 3
Match Report : A tired end of Season Saracens found themselves 3-0 down to Hungerford and creating little. A goal either side of the break was followed by a fluke when a half-way clearance looped over Brett Pittaway into the net.
Fred Latchford reduced the defecit with a neat back-heal and then Joe Tustain hit a 25 yeard free kick that the keeper couldn't hold.
Abingdon United 3 2 Cheltenham Saracens Reserves Monday, 28 April 2008
The Squad

Brett Pittaway,(22) A tall agile keeper, had a spell with Southampton as a youngster.

Nick Burke (21): Runs for ever, but where to? We haven't found out yet!

Callum Gill, (17) A very composed right back, doesn't let anything get in his way, apart from his hair!

Kyle Watkins (17) A very strong centre midfielder, he will battle his way through the field.

Kayne Samapuria (17): Midfield General for the Reserves and Youth

Liam Morbey (20): Has already played for the 1st team, one for the future

Gary Hill (17) another striker, has the ability to play at a higher level

Chris Pates (19): Classy defender, gradually making his way back from injury, will be back in the 1st team soon

Jamie Shand (16): Elegant Wing-Back, for both Reserves and Youth who can use either foot, chips the keeper from 30 yards regularly!

Matt Masling (17): Maz (junior) can't decide if he's a defender or midfielder but can use either foot and gives it all for both the Reserves and Youth

"Steady" Freddie Latchford (18): Faster than a speeding bullet, but sometimes faster than the ball though!

Mark Jones, Strong Midfielder or Left Back

Ryan Smith (Smudger) Very accomplished Defender never pulls out of a tackle, takes the ball, the man, the lot!
