Saracens 1 Wotton Rovers

Tuesday 6 May 2008

Team(4-4-2): Tom Alcock (Stu Ford 45),
Callum Gill, Matt Masling, Teejay Bick, Gary Price (Josh Ellin 70),
Jamie Shand, Kayne Samapuria (Matt Holder 45), Mike Atkins, Gary Hill,
Freddie Latchford, Jack McKinnon

Match Report: Last Game of the season, Saracens gave their all but came up short. Gary Hill terrorised Wotton's defence and scored after just 2 minutes. Unfortunately Gary then scored at the other end when he deflected a header into his own net. Wotton added to their tally when a free kick was tipped on to the bar by Tom Alcock and an unmarked attacker scored.

In the second half Saracens threw everything at Wotton but just couldn't manage to score.

This last game sees a number of players moving on because of their age and Manager Mudger seeking new challenges next season.

Yate Town 3 Saracens 1

Monday 7 April 2008

Match Report: Saracens again spurned the chance of catching the leaders in the Youth League. They looked comfortable in the first 20 minutes and took the lead when steady Freddie Latchford took advantage of a defensive error. Their lead was short lived however as Yate equalised with their next attack. They then added a well taken second to lead 2-1 at half time. In the second half Saracens were up against it again and Yate added to their lead from a corner. Saracens then had their best passage of play and should have scored at least one but missed the chances.

Team(4-4-2): Stu Ford,
TeeJay Bick (Mike Atkins 55), Luke Barstow, Callum Gill, Ryan Smith,
Josh Ellin, Matt Masling, Jamie Shand, Gary Hill (Jamie Moore 65),
Jack McKinnon (Gary Price 80), Freddie Latchford.
Subs Not Used: Tom Alcock

Winterbourne 2 Saracens 1

Sunday 9 March 2008

Match Report: Saracens chances of finishing runners-up in the Glos. Youth League suffered a blow with this defeat at Winterbourne. In a wind affected match Saracens were on top for the majority of the first-half and had a goal disallowed when Freddie Latchford was adjudged offside when he touched in a goal-bound Teejay Bick header. Winterbourne snatched a late first half goal to go into the break leading. Saracens got a deserved early equaliser from Jack Mckinnon but then conceded a sloppy second and created little from there on in.

Team(4-4-2): Stu Ford,
TeeJay Bick, Matt Masling, Callum Gill, Luke (Gary Hill 80),
Josh Ellin, Owain McFarlane (Jamie Moore 75), Kayne Samapuria, Jack McKinnon (Jamie Shand 65),
Nathan Taylor, Freddie Latchford.
Subs Not Used: Tom Alcock, Mike Atkins

Cadbury Heath 0 Saracens 1

Sunday 24 February 2008

A "sweet" win for Saracens against a gritty Cadbury Heath to make it three wins in a row. 0-0 at half-time with the Saracens creating a few half chances up the hill, Ellin, Masling, Latchford, Moore and Taylor all spurning them with McFarlane being his usual busy self. The Second half was more of the same but Stuart Ford kept Cadbury at bay with a couple of outstanding saves. Steady Freddie Latchford was the match winner when he scored directly from a corner. Cadbury ended then game with 10 men and the sending off ended any hope they had of getting back into the game.

Team(4-4-2): Stu Ford,
TeeJay Bick, Matt Masling, Callum Gill, Ryan Smith,
Josh Ellin, Owain McFarlane, Mike Atkins, Jamie Moore,
Nathan Taylor, Freddie Latchford.
Subs Not Used: Tom Alcock, Jack Mckinnon

Forest Green Yth 1 v Saracens 5

An outstanding performance all round from the youth saw them take 2nd placed Forest Green by storm. Deservedly 2-0 up at half-time with goals from Nathan Taylor and Jack McKinnon, they saw Forest Green come out with something to prove after the break. But Saracens caught them on the break with another McKinnon goal, following great build up play from Ryan Smith and Josh Ellin. Steady Freddie Latchford added two more before Forest Green got their consolation with the last kick of the game. The Saracens Youth really showed what they are capable of and Coaches Mudger and Ibbo couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces

Team(4-4-2): Stu Ford,
TeeJay Bick (Mike Atkins 80), Matt Masling, Callum Gill, Ryan Smith,
Josh Ellin, Owain McFarlane, Kayne Samapuria, Jack Mckinnon,
Nathan Taylor (Jamie Moore 70), Freddie Latchford.
Subs Not Used: Tom Alcock

Nathan Taylor, Tall Striker, lets the Defenders, and Management, knows he's around, stopped talking once but a confident and skillful player!

Josh Ellin, stylish left sided player, already a regular with the firsts, as quick as a quick thing!

Tom Alcock, he's after Stu Ford's Number 1 shirt, and if it went on scary looks he'd have it! Still a great shot stopper, and he's only 17

Matt Masling, makes a Church Mouse sound loud! But his Dad makes up for it on the sideline. Steady Defender or Midfielder

Fred Latchford, Ready Steady Freddie, always chips in with a goal, usually the winner

Jamie Shand, two footed midfielder with an eye for a goal or the perfect cross

Kayne Samapuria, central midfield general

Callum Gill, quality central or right sided defender, does the simple things well, just like his hair!

Ryan Smith, another quality defender, plays anywhere across the back line but can also push up and score goals

Teejay Bick, Already a regular 1st teamer, sweet left footed defender

Mike Atkins, Steady Central Midfielder, will regain that 1st team slot again

Jamie Moore, strong target man upfront, holds the line well

Owain McFarlane, runs forever, always asking the Referee about his wellfair and parentage!

Jack McKinnon, classy striker, links well with whoever he plays with

Stu Ford, has been consitent between the sticks all season
